Ridgewood NJ, in Virginia, a judge made the correct decision to disqualify a school board candidate because she gave the wrong address on her ballot paperwork. The Fairfax County Office of Elections has informed voters on its website that Marcia St. John-Cunning was disqualified on Wednesday by a court order from the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The judge decided that her petition was not valid due to an address mistake on the front page.
Meanwhile, the Bergen County Election Commission seems to have overlooked a situation where the current Ridgewood Board of Education candidate, Mike Lembo, who is using an address where he no longer lives, despite the entire town being aware of this. Lembo moved out of his Van Buren Street house two years ago and has been residing with his girlfriend outside of Ridgewood. Surprisingly, he continues to use his old address on all election-related paperwork (he may own the old home, but he doesn’t live there). It appears that the rules that require a student to actually reside in Ridgewood, rather than just paying the mortgage, do not seem to apply to Lembo. Furthermore, it raises questions about whether providing incorrect address information on election paperwork is overlooked for the Board President, who is also a law enforcement officer.
Where does he live then ?
They all appear to be breaking New Jersey ELEC laws. One candidate didn’t report costs for lawn signs and flyers. Another failed to report postcards sent to NJEA and NEA members, which include teachers who might not work in Ridgewood but live here. Also, someone didn’t put their campaign committee address on their website, lawn signs, and mailers as required by the law.

That should be a violation. People who are using an address where they no longer reside should immediately disqualify them. It is dishonest and if he is only using this address so that he has a presence in Ridgewood but lives elsewhere, it seems unethical.
I think he recently moved back to Ridgewood and is renting here. The addresses reported on this screen shot is still not correct!
It is not current suprintendent’s fault. When he was not living in Ridgewood, there was an interim suprintendent incharge!

We mention them because their parents choose to not send them to Ridgewood schools since they have issues with the schools. Completely Different. Plus no one is blasting their addresses. Shame on you!!

Talk about spin. Dani’s daughter was accepted into Bergen Academies, one of the best high schools in the county. His other child went through RPS. Kwak’s children are pursuing outside interests that RPS cannot accommodate.

Yep. Jill G just confirmed that Lembo lird on the official document. Not an accident. Intentional. He is disqualified.

Don’t blame her for Lembo’s decisions! He could have stayed clean and recuse himself from HR committee and disclosed his correct address. Not her fault!

Micale has now admitted to receiving an “in-kind donation” from REA in today’s report. However, Julie has not yet disclosed her in-kind donations from REA. Micale had previously stated on Facebook that she didn’t receive any money from REA, but the mailers and postcards make it clear that she’s essentially received campaign support in the form of an in-kind donation, which has implications for campaign finance and ethics laws. She still reported it with a wrong date, as these postcards were sent a while ago bye REA!
So Micale actually initially lied but is now admitting to receiving an in kind donation. what kind of ethics do we have going on here if she took donations but didn’t disclose. Sorry but isn’t this person a former lawyer? Also isn’t Robert Furman her account person and he did some wonky thing with her financial accounting (late???) why is this acceptable. And you are going to put her in the BOE to make critical decisions. Sounds pretty concerning to me.
Either REA got a significant discount on their postcard printing and mailing(from USPS??), or Micale has not accurately reported the in-kind contribution they made.
Will someone clarify where and to who this gets reported? Election Day is coming fast
