Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Public Schools has named Richard Leon Matthews as the new Business Administrator/Board Secretary, effective September 23, 2024. Matthews was appointed at the July 22, 2024 Board of Education meeting.
Mr. Matthews brings extensive experience in financial management, budget planning, and operational efficiency within educational settings. He joins Ridgewood Public Schools from Paterson Public Schools, where he served as the School Business Administrator for the past seven years. During his tenure at Paterson, he achieved significant milestones, including transitioning health benefits to a private model, resulting in substantial cost savings and improved service quality.
Mr. Matthews’ strategic financial management and rigorous approach to budget planning have consistently led to fiscal accountability and integrity. His leadership in operational initiatives has driven significant cost reductions and improvements across various departments. He has a proven track record of enhancing financial health and maintaining educational programming without staff reductions.
