New Milford NJ, on Monday afternoon, January 6, a portion of River Road just north of New Bridge Road in New Milford was temporarily closed after a box truck traveling northbound struck a utility pole, splitting it in half.
Details of the Incident
The accident occurred when the box truck collided with the utility pole. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the truck was able to continue its journey after police officers interacted with the driver.
Emergency responders, including units from the New Milford Police Department and New Milford Fire Department, arrived promptly at the scene. To ensure safety, the New Milford Department of Public Works (DPW) provided barricades to block the affected section of the road.
Impact on the Area
Despite the pole being split in half, there was no reported loss of commercial power in the area surrounding the crash site. Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) was notified to address the damage and restore the utility pole.
Road Closure and Reopening
The temporary closure of River Road caused minor traffic disruptions. Thanks to the quick action of local authorities, the road was secured, and normal traffic flow was restored after the scene was cleared.
