East Rutherford NJ, on Sunday, the East Rutherford Fire Department (ERFD) responded to a fire alarm activation at 1 Meadowlands Plaza, a multi-story high-rise office building.
Upon arrival, ERFD personnel discovered that the building’s air handler unit, located in the penthouse, had experienced a fire. Fortunately, the fire was quickly suppressed by the building’s sprinkler system before it could spread further.
Second Alarm Ensures Adequate Response
Given the size and complexity of the high-rise structure, a second alarm was transmitted to ensure sufficient manpower to handle the situation effectively.
Although the fire was contained, a water condition caused by the sprinkler system impacted multiple floors and utility closets. East Rutherford Fire Department crews worked diligently to salvage and protect property in affected suites on the upper floors, minimizing damage.
Ongoing Investigation
The East Rutherford Bureau of Fire Safety is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire.
ERFD’s Commitment to Safety
This response highlights the quick action and preparedness of the East Rutherford Fire Department, ensuring the safety of both the building’s occupants and their property.
