Allendale NJ, FBI Director Kash Patel has ordered a formal investigation into former FBI Director James Comey over allegations that he authorized an off-the-books surveillance operation on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, according to a Tuesday report by The Washington Times.

Whistleblower Claims Comey Ordered Covert Probe Into Trump in 2015

The investigation stems from a whistleblower disclosure to the House Judiciary Committee, alleging that Comey directed an undercover FBI operation in 2015, separate from the controversial Crossfire Hurricane probe. According to the claims, Comey deployed two female undercover “honeypot” agents to get close to then-candidate Trump and gather intelligence.

In intelligence operations, a honeypot refers to an operative who feigns romantic or sexual interest to extract information from a target.

New FBI Leadership Targets Comey’s Alleged Secret Operation

Now under new leadership, the FBI—led by Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino—has reportedly initiated efforts to track down the two alleged undercover agents used in the operation.

The Times’ Kerry Picket, who first reported the story, wrote:

“The bureau, now led by Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, is looking for those once-undercover employees who were previously under Mr. Comey’s direction.”

For years, Trump and his allies have maintained that Comey, acting on behalf of former President Barack Obama, orchestrated a secret surveillance operation against his campaign. Comey has consistently denied these allegations.

Patel Promises an Unbiased FBI Under His Leadership

Ahead of his confirmation as FBI Director, Patel vowed not to weaponize the bureau for political purposes, rejecting accusations that he planned to pursue retribution against Trump’s political enemies.

“There will be no politicization at the FBI. There will be no retributive actions taken,” Patel stated during his confirmation hearing, as reported by the Associated Press.

With this explosive new investigation into Comey’s alleged surveillance activities, the battle over FBI misconduct and political interference in past elections is far from over. Stay tuned for further developments as Patel and Bongino dig deeper into the case.
