Park Ridge NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco joined the New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association at their annual memorial service to honor and remember fallen firefighters, including many of our own from Bergen County.
Tedesco siad in a post on Facebook, “As a volunteer firefighter myself, this ceremony is always a solemn reminder of the risks our firefighters face each day. On behalf of the County of Bergen, thank you to all our firefighters and first responders for your courage, sacrifice, and service.”
The New Jersey & New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association was officially organized in the Park Ridge Fire House, March 27, 1914. Initially to be the Volunteer Fire Companies along the New Jersey & New York Railroad, now the Pascack Valley Line. The Association quickly expanded to include all Volunteer Fire Companies in Bergen and Rockland Counties.
