Mulch Monday Beautifies Downtown Ridgewood, Just in Time for July 4th Festivities

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — In just a few productive hours on Monday morning, Ridgewood’s Central Business District (CBD) received a fresh, vibrant makeover thanks to the hard work of a dedicated group of volunteers, determined to beautify the community despite the summer heat.

Volunteers gathered at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, for what has now been dubbed “Mulch Monday”—a community-driven effort to weed and mulch the tree wells and planting beds throughout downtown Ridgewood. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prepare the village for its annual 4th of July parade and celebrations.

🌳 A Community United by Beautification

Dozens of volunteers, including students from RCYC (Ridgewood Community Youth Council), local residents, and professional crews from Tri-County Landscaping and Ridgewood’s Park Division, teamed up to ensure the Central Business District looks its best for both locals and visitors this summer.

“Thank you to everyone who braved the heat to make Ridgewood shine!” organizers said. “Your efforts have helped revitalize our downtown and show true community spirit.”

🌺 Flowers, Trees, and Mulch—Oh My!

Prior to Mulch Monday, volunteers had already planted flowers and trees in Ridgewood’s downtown area. The fresh layer of mulch not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also supports healthy tree and plant growth by retaining moisture and reducing weed growth.

With the weeding, planting, and mulching now complete, Ridgewood’s CBD is officially parade-ready.

🎆 Ready for the 4th of July!

Thanks to these efforts, Ridgewood’s downtown is prepped and polished for its much-anticipated 4th of July parade and festivities, one of the borough’s most cherished traditions. With flower beds blooming and tree wells mulched, the village is ready to roll out the red, white, and blue.
