RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Tragedy has struck the Ridgewood community as Eugenia Antipas, 50, passed away from injuries sustained in a serious car crash in Montclair earlier this month.
The crash occurred on June 8 at approximately 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of Erie Street and Sylvan Place, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Antipas was riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle driven by her 48-year-old husband, also a Ridgewood resident. Authorities say the vehicle was traveling on a narrow municipal section of Erie Street, which eventually ends in a private driveway.
Following the crash, Antipas was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where she remained in critical condition until succumbing to her injuries on June 20.
Details about the condition of the driver—Antipas’ husband—have not yet been released. Officials have not confirmed if he remains hospitalized or has been transferred to a rehabilitation facility.
