WESTWOOD, NJHollywood Heroes Inc., the beloved vintage toy store located in the heart of downtown Westwood, will temporarily close its physical location on September 1, 2025, as its building undergoes major renovations. Owner Jordan Hembrough confirmed the shop will shift to online-only operations until construction wraps—likely by April 2026.

🎮 A Collector’s Haven Hits Pause on In-Person Visits

Located at 7 Bergen Street, Hollywood Heroes has become a go-to destination for fans of Star Wars, DC Comics, Marvel, TMNT, Ghostbusters, and other pop culture staples. The shop is packed with vintage action figures, plushies, board games, and even rare art—making it a hotspot for collectors and nostalgic shoppers.

The building’s landlord plans to add a second story for residential units, which prevents the toy shop from operating safely during construction. Despite the temporary closure, Hembrough is staying upbeat.

“We’re still around—just online,” said Hembrough. “We’re still buying toy collections and selling the best in vintage and pop culture memorabilia.”

📺 A Store with a Star-Studded Past

Hembrough’s name might ring a bell—he hosted “Toy Hunter” on the Travel Channel and “Our Star Wars Stories” for Lucasfilm. His Westwood shop has served as both a storefront and filming location for these nationally aired shows.

“It’s interesting: the store has served both as a retail spot and almost like a studio,” said Hembrough.

The store also attracts international fans—including collectors from Germany, many of whom include Hollywood Heroes on their “nerd comic tour” of New Jersey, which also features Kevin Smith’s famous Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank.

🛒 Nostalgia Meets Online Convenience

While the physical shop closes temporarily, the business continues in full swing online at HollywoodHeroes.com. Hembrough has already begun organizing inventory from storage units and is accepting toy collection sales.

“We’re in a shift back to nostalgia,” he said. “People are rediscovering their childhood—especially ‘80s and ‘90s properties. We’re here to help them find those treasured pieces again.”

🧸 Still Buying and Selling Collections

In today’s economic climate, more people are turning to sell childhood collections. Hembrough says Hollywood Heroes remains committed to helping people both sell their toys and relive the magic of their youth through timeless collectibles.

“We’re always available, and we can’t wait to get back,” he said. “This store is part of what makes downtown Westwood special.”
