FAIR LAWN, NJ — Two serious T-bone motor vehicle crashes occurred within just one hour and less than half a mile apart in Fair Lawn on Friday evening, August 8, leaving six people injured, including a young child. Authorities say at least five of the victims were hospitalized, with some requiring emergency extrication using the Jaws of Life.
First Crash: Broadway & 17th Street
The first collision happened late Friday afternoon at the intersection of Broadway and 17th Street and involved a Buick and a Mercedes SUV. The impact left the vehicles heavily damaged, and emergency crews worked swiftly to assist the injured.
Second Crash: Midland Avenue & Arcadia Road
Less than an hour later, a second T-bone crash took place at Midland Avenue and Arcadia Road, involving a Subaru and a Chevy Tahoe. The severity of the crash required multiple ambulances and specialized rescue efforts.
Massive Emergency Response
Responders included Fair Lawn Police Department, Fair Lawn EMS, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, Fair Lawn Fire Department Company #3, Bergen County EMS, and a paramedic team from Hackensack University Medical Center. All four vehicles from both crashes sustained significant damage and were towed from the scenes.
Both incidents are under investigation by Fair Lawn Police.
