Hackensack, NJ — August 30, 2025 — A suspicious fire broke out Saturday night in Hackensack, torching at least three police vehicles in an overflow parking lot near Hackensack Fire Department headquarters and a nearby mosque, authorities confirmed.
The blaze started around 8:09 p.m. at 78 Trinity Place, according to Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer. Fire crews quickly suppressed the flames, but several police cars were heavily damaged.
Following the fire, investigators determined the incident appeared “suspicious in nature.” The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad, alongside the Hackensack Police Department, immediately launched a joint investigation.
