FAR HILLS, NJ – It’s the biggest steeplechase event of the year! The 104th running of the Far Hills Race Meeting , world-class steeplechase racing is set for Saturday, October 18, 2025, bringing world-class racing to Moorland Farms. To accommodate the thousands of spectators, NJ TRANSIT is rolling out a special, enhanced rail service on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Lines.

If you’re planning to attend this iconic event, the Far Hills Station is your prime access point, located right across the street from the venue. Here is your essential guide to navigating the day with NJ TRANSIT.

Special Saturday Schedule Highlights: October 18, 2025

NJ TRANSIT is significantly boosting service for this special event. Be prepared for crowds, allow extra travel time, and remember that capacity on trains will vary.

Traveling TO Far Hills

Trains will run frequently from major connection points to get you to the race in time for the action:

• From Hoboken: Trains will depart at least once per hour starting at 7:31 AM until 11:20 AM. Look for more frequent service between 8:39 AM and 10:35 AM.
• From Summit: Trains will depart at least once per hour from 8:14 AM until 1:14 PM. Service will be most frequent from approximately 9:10 AM until 11:20 AM.

Traveling FROM Far Hills (Departure)

Leaving the races will require patience as trains will depart as they are filled.

• Main Service Window: Gladstone Branch train service will operate from 3:59 PM until 7:03 PM.
• Last Train Guarantee: While trains will depart as they fill up, the last train of the day will not depart Far Hills before 7:03 PM.

Important Travel & Ticketing Policies

To ensure a smooth day, familiarize yourself with these critical restrictions and ticketing requirements:

Pre-Purchase is Essential

Avoid long lines and simplify your travel by purchasing a round-trip ticket in advance.

• Far Hills Boarding Fee: Customers boarding at Far Hills after the races without a valid ticket or pass must purchase a special ticket for $20. This special ticket is valid until 11:59 PM on October 18 only for travel between Far Hills and any NJ TRANSIT rail station.

No Service at Peapack and Gladstone

Please note that rail service will be suspended at Peapack and Gladstone stations for the day.

• Shuttle Service: Frequent shuttle bus service (operated by Lakeland Bus Company) will run between Gladstone, Peapack, and Far Hills throughout the day, operating at least every 30 minutes.

Critical Restrictions (Strictly Enforced)

1. NO BEVERAGES: Absolutely NO beverages, including alcohol, open or closed, will be permitted on any train, bus, or platform to and from Far Hills on Saturday, October 18. This policy will be strictly enforced.
2. No Bikes: Bicycles are not permitted on Gladstone Branch trains for this special event.
3. Parking Ban: Parking is prohibited at Far Hills Station between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, as the lot will be used for transportation operations.
