A First for Saddle River! Mayor and Community Officially Welcome New Residents to the 112-Unit Choctaw Affordable Housing Complex

SADDLE RIVER, NJ — A major milestone in community development and inclusion was celebrated yesterday, October 24th, as the Borough of Saddle River hosted a warm and wonderful ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Residences at Choctaw. This event marks the official grand opening of the borough’s first-ever affordable family housing community.

The celebration was a testament to the community’s welcoming spirit, attended by a wide cross-section of local leadership, including:

  • Mayor Al Kurpis and the entire Borough Council
  • Borough staff and members of the Board of Education
  • The Saddle River Police Department
  • Representatives from The Michaels Group, the development partner

Choctaw: A Model for Affordable, Sustainable Living

The Residences at Choctaw introduces a thoughtful and sustainable approach to living in Saddle River, emphasizing long-term opportunity and connectivity for its new residents.

Spanning six, three-story walk-up buildings, the community offers 112 affordable apartment homes designed to meet the needs of families. The units include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts.
