A quiet Wednesday morning in Waldwick, NJ, was dramatically disrupted by a late-morning vehicle mishap. On October 29th, the driver of a KIA SUV lost control of the vehicle in the rear parking lot of a medical office facility located on Franklin Turnpike, resulting in a crash right into the building’s structure.

The incident, which saw the vehicle leave the pavement and strike the building, resulted in significant damage to the facility’s rear access points.
Casualties of the Crash: Steps, Ramp, and Railing Damaged
Responding to the scene were the Waldwick Police Department (WPD) and an ambulance from The Valley Hospital EMS. Despite the impact, the driver of the KIA SUV refused medical attention and appeared to be uninjured, a fortunate outcome given the location of the crash.
The vehicle struck the structure’s rear, causing visible damage to several components:
- The building’s rear-facing pedestrian access ramp
- A section of the stair railing and steps
- Significant destruction of shrubbery in the immediate area
A flatbed tow truck was required to carefully free the KIA from its resting position against the building before towing it away from the scene. The Waldwick PD is likely investigating the circumstances that led the driver to lose control in the parking lot.
Focus on Safety and Building Integrity
While the driver was unharmed, the crash highlights the potential dangers of vehicle loss-of-control in high-traffic areas like medical facility parking lots. Immediate assessments will be necessary to ensure the structural integrity and accessibility of the damaged areas, particularly the pedestrian ramp, which is crucial for patient access.
