PARK RIDGE, N.J. — As digital threats targeting critical infrastructure continue to escalate nationwide, federal, state, and local leaders gathered in Park Ridge to spotlight new federal initiatives aimed at safeguarding municipal water and electric systems from cyber-attacks.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer joined U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer, New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC) Director Michael Geraghty, and municipal officials to emphasize that protecting essential services is paramount to public safety.

During the briefing, officials outlined the proactive measures being taken across Bergen County to harden digital defenses and share real-time threat intelligence.

“The Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit, the Intelligence & Counter-Terrorism Unit, and our Threat Management Unit maintain partnerships with key agencies like the FBI and NJ’s Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness to coordinate, share, and react to real-time threat intelligence, all while working with local police departments and municipal governing bodies,” stated Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO) highlighted that cybersecurity directly intersects with public safety, reinforcing their commitment to working alongside federal agencies and local governments to proactively detect vulnerabilities before bad actors can strike.
