Midland Park NJ, If you’re planning your morning commute or school drop-off in Midland Park this week, you’ll want to leave a few minutes early. The Midland Park Police Department has issued a significant traffic advisory for a stretch of Godwin Avenue that is expected to impact local travel for several days.

Starting Monday, March 2, Godwin Avenue will be fully closed in both directions to allow for scheduled construction work. Here is everything you need to know to navigate the detour and avoid the gridlock.

The Details: When and Where

The closure, managed by Conquest Construction, affects the heart of the borough’s transit route.

  • Dates: Beginning Monday, March 2 (expected to last 3–4 days, weather permitting).

  • Times: Daily from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

  • Location: Godwin Ave. closed between Prospect St. and Park Ave.

Navigating the Detours

The police department has coordinated a specific detour route to keep traffic flowing around the construction zone. Keep an eye out for signage posted by Conquest Construction throughout the weekend.

  • Going Westbound: Take Prospect St. to Park Ave., then circle back to Godwin Ave.

  • Going Eastbound: Take Park Ave. to Prospect St., then return to Godwin Ave.

Note for Residents: Local traffic can still travel westbound from De Mund, Baldin, Orchard, and Irving. However, there is no access on Godwin eastbound past Witte Dr.

Tips for a Stress-Free Commute

  1. Check the Sky: Since the project is “weather dependent,” keep an eye on the local forecast. Rain could extend the closure into the later half of the week.

  2. Adjust Your GPS: Popular apps like Waze or Google Maps should update, but manually checking your route before you put the car in drive is always safer.

  3. Watch for Pedestrians: With traffic diverted onto residential side streets like Park Ave and Prospect St, please be extra mindful of neighbors and pets.
