“I Was Late to Work”: Road Rage Confrontation Reported on Maple Avenue in Glen Rock

Glne Rock NJ, A standard morning commute turned into a tense confrontation in Glen Rock last Wednesday, as a 22-year-old Hackensack man allegedly engaged in road rage because he was “in a rush” to get to his job.

The incident, which occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Maple Avenue, highlights the growing tension on Bergen County roads during peak commuting hours.

The Incident: Tailgating and a Double-Yellow Pass

According to the Glen Rock Police Department, the situation began when a 46-year-old local resident reported being aggressively tailgated by a late-model Mercedes. The encounter escalated quickly when the Mercedes driver allegedly:

  • Passed the victim’s vehicle over double yellow lines.

  • Abruptly stopped his vehicle near a busy intersection.

  • Exited the Mercedes to approach the other driver on foot.

The Confrontation: “You’re Driving Too Slowly”

As the 22-year-old driver walked toward the victim’s window, the resident stayed inside his vehicle and immediately dialed 911. Upon arrival, officers questioned the Hackensack man, who admitted to being frustrated by the pace of traffic, stating he was simply “late to work.”

While the confrontation was heated, police confirmed that no injuries were reported and no physical altercation took place.

Legal Next Steps for Drivers

Because officers did not personally witness the driving infractions or the verbal dispute, no immediate arrests were made at the scene. However, the Glen Rock Police advised both parties of their right to:

  1. File a formal report through the Glen Rock Municipal Court.

  2. Pursue private citizens’ complaints for traffic violations (such as the illegal passing over double yellow lines).

Safety Tip: Glen Rock authorities remind drivers that if you are being followed or confronted, stay in your vehicle, lock the doors, and call 911 immediately—exactly as the victim did in this case.
