WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ — Mayor Carlos A. Rendo is taking a firm stance on property maintenance and municipal standards across Woodcliff Lake, targeting long-neglected and stagnant site developments to protect local home values and community aesthetics.
During a recent Mayor-Council meeting—Mayor Rendo detailed local enforcement actions regarding three prominent, unsightly sites in town: the abandoned gas station on Broadway, the former carpet store on Broadway, and Woodcliff Manor.
“The one thing that I detest and find completely unacceptable are properties that owners or developers rush to our land use board for site plan approval, and once approved, sit there for months or years undeveloped,” stated Mayor Rendo.

Broadway Gas Station: Cleanup crews are actively clearing out the abandoned property. The owner is expected to apply for a formal demolition permit this week, paving the way for the structure to be taken down shortly.

Former Broadway Carpet Store: Progress was temporarily stalled after a required retaining wall failed municipal inspection. The property developer is currently working directly with the town engineer to rectify the structural issue.

Woodcliff Manor: Ownership is resolving outstanding sewer system connection requirements and initiating an immediate site cleanup.
Mayor Rendo reaffirmed that the Mayor and Borough Council remain focused on holding property owners accountable, enforcing local zoning standards, and safeguarding residential property values throughout Woodcliff Lake.
