RIDGEWOOD, NJ — It’s time to clear the winter debris and get your garden ready! The Village of Ridgewood has officially kicked off its 2026 Spring Yard Waste Collection, running now through October 9, 2026.

To ensure your grass clippings, brush, and branches are picked up without a hitch, the Department of Public Works has released specific guidelines for all residents. Here is your quick-start guide to a clutter-free yard this spring.

The Rules for Curbside Pickup

To keep the collection process efficient and safe for workers, please follow these size and weight limits:
  • Containers: Use a sturdy barrel (maximum 32 gallons and 80 pounds) or biodegradable paper lawn/leaf bags.
  • No Plastic: Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
  • Branches: Must be bundled and tied. They cannot exceed 3 feet in length or 2 inches in diameter.
  • Prohibited Items: Do not include rocks, dirt, wood chips, or logs. Additionally, do not use Village-issued recycling barrels for yard waste.

How to Find Your Pickup Schedule

Don’t miss your day! Neighborhood schedules vary across the Village. You can verify your specific collection dates by:
  1. Visiting the official Village of Ridgewood website.
  2. Checking the printed Village Calendar.
  3. Downloading the Recycle Coach app for real-time alerts and schedule lookups on your phone.

  1. Let’s hope all the residents keep the cans under the limit in weight.

  2. This has been an ongoing problem for the past 40 years since they implemented this program. What a revolving door with employees, many employees have gotten severely hurt throughout the years, that’s because the village doesn’t enforce the weight limit. The cans are ridiculously overweight. And let’s see what this new regime handles the situation.

    1. you shouldn’t have dropped out of medical school

  3. You’re absolutely right, I should’ve been a psychiatrist, so I can examine some of these residents how heavy they make the cans full of dirt rock, etc. come, can’t understand it, I’m thinking about going back to become a proctologistđŸ€”

  4. Forget about medical school, I should became a plumber. They charge more than my doctor. I go to my doctor for a check up. I’m there 30 minutes. It’s 150 bucks if you have no insurance if you have insurance depending on your co-pay, a plumber comes golf hours late hours weekends holidays holy shit just a look at it. An emergency call you’re looking at easy 300, and that’s not to fix the problem.
