Ridgewood NJ, If you commute through Ridgewood or Midland Park, you’ll want to adjust your GPS settings this week. The Village has announced two significant infrastructure projects—one involving water main replacements and another for road resurfacing—that will impact local traffic and parking.

Here is everything you need to know to avoid delays and find a parking spot.

1. Glen Avenue: Daytime Closures & Detours (April 16–17)

As part of the design phase for Ridgewood Water’s upcoming main replacement project, crews will be active on Glen Avenue during the day.

  • When: Thursday, April 16, and Friday, April 17.

  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

  • Location: Glen Avenue, stretching from Fairview Street in Midland Park to Oak Street in Ridgewood.

  • What to Expect: Motorists should anticipate detours and potential road closures. Fortunately, police officers will be stationed on-site to help direct traffic and keep the flow as smooth as possible.

2. North Broad Street: Overnight Paving & Parking Restrictions (April 20–21)

Downtown commuters and shoppers should take note of an upcoming two-day paving project on North Broad Street. To minimize disruption to business hours, this work will be performed overnight.

  • When: Monday night, April 20, and Tuesday night, April 21.

  • Hours: Work begins at 7:00 PM each night.

  • Location: North Broad Street, from East Ridgewood Avenue to Franklin Avenue.

  • The Schedule:

    • Monday: Road milling (removing the top layer of asphalt).

    • Tuesday: Final paving.

  • Crucial Parking Info: There is strictly no parking on North Broad Street after 5:00 PM on both Monday and Tuesday.

Pro Tip: If you usually park on North Broad for dinner or late-night shopping, plan to use the nearby parking garages or side lots to avoid being towed.

Stay Informed

All projects are weather permitting. The Village will be posting signs throughout the affected areas, and local businesses are being notified directly.

Whether you are heading to the Ridgewood train station or dropping the kids off at school, leaving an extra 10 minutes early this week is your best bet!

  1. Thanks for posting the important info. How come I never get an email from the town except some ‘fluff self promotion’ on Fridays

    1. All this and much more was announced in weekly email messages from the town. The subject line is usually “Latest News and Events.”
