Paramus, NJ , Education in New Jersey just took a massive leap forward. On May 28, local officials, educators, and families gathered on the Bergen County Technical High School campus to officially cut the ribbon on a groundbreaking new institution: the Career Innovation High School (CIHS).

Led by Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, the grand opening marks a historic investment in the region’s youth and the future of the local workforce.

Adapting to an Ever-Changing Job Market

Unlike traditional educational models, the curriculum at the Career Innovation High School isn’t set in stone. The school has been specifically engineered to evolve alongside shifting industry demands, ensuring that students are always learning the most cutting-edge, in-demand skills.

“The programs offered at this school are designed to evolve as industry demands change, ensuring our Bergen County students receive the most in‑demand career training possible,” said County Executive Jim Tedesco. “This addition will further strengthen Bergen County’s nationally recognized technical education programs.”

A Community-Driven Vision Realized

The opening of the Paramus-based campus represents a massive collaborative effort between local educators, state partners, and the community. During the opening ceremony, leadership extended deep gratitude to the key figures who made this vision a reality:

  • Dr. Lerner, Technical Schools Superintendent

  • Jeremy Wertheim, CIHS Principal

  • State partners and the legislative delegation, who secured the vital funding necessary for construction.

Most importantly, officials thanked the inaugural class of students and their families for their trust and dedication to this pioneering educational pathway.

Strengthening the Bergen County Workforce

By equipping students with real-world skills, technical certifications, and adaptable expertise, Bergen County is actively future-proofing its local economy. CIHS isn’t just a high school—it is a launchpad for the next generation of innovators, tech leaders, and skilled professionals.

As the inaugural class steps through the doors this year, the county looks forward to expanding the student body and continuing to set the gold standard for technical education nationwide.
