Twp. of Washington NJ, If you are commuting through the Township of Washington or passing by The Westwood High School (WWHS) this morning, local officials are advising motorists not to be alarmed by a sudden influx of emergency vehicles.

A planned community safety event is scheduled to take place today, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

What is Happening at WWHS?

Local emergency crews are hosting a live Drinking and Driving (DWI) presentation on the front lawn of the high school. This impactful demonstration is being held specifically for the students of the senior class to highlight the real-world consequences of impaired driving ahead of prom and graduation season.

What to Expect on the Road

During the one-hour window, community members and passing drivers will notice a significant staging environment, including:

  • Police Vehicles with active or standby units.

  • Fire Apparatus positioned near the school lawn.

  • Ambulances and emergency medical personnel.

Important Note for Motorists: No Active Emergency

The Township of Washington has explicitly asked passing motorists not to be alarmed by the heavy concentration of first responders. There is no active threat, hazard, or real-time emergency occurring on the campus.

Traffic may slow down slightly in the immediate area as drivers look at the demonstration. Commuters are encouraged to maintain normal speeds, keep their eyes on the road, and proceed with caution through the school zone to ensure the safety of the students and emergency workers on the lawn.

Official Notice: In the rare event of an actual, real-time emergency, official town notifications and alerts will be broadcasted through standard municipal channels immediately.
