Fair Lawn NJ, A routine trip to the store turned into a dramatic rescue scene on Friday afternoon in Bergen County. An 84-year-old driver miraculously escaped injury after losing control of an SUV, slamming into a local CVS pharmacy, and damaging two other vehicles.

The Incident: Parking Attempt Goes Wrong on River Road

The accident occurred on the afternoon of Friday, June 12, in the parking lot of the CVS store located on River Road in Fair Lawn, NJ.

According to emergency reports, the elderly driver of an older model, silver Toyota 4Runner was attempting to park in front of the convenience store. For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the large SUV. The vehicle surged forward, striking two parked vehicles before colliding directly with the building structure.

High-Stakes Rescue: Stabilizing the Wreckage

The impact left the silver 4Runner in a dangerous, unstable position against the store.

First responders rushed to the scene, where members of the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad had to quickly secure and stabilize the “precariously perched” SUV to prevent it from shifting or tipping over. Once the vehicle was safely blocked, rescue crews successfully extricated the driver.

While the driver was understandably very shaken up by the harrowing ordeal, officials confirmed they were completely physically unharmed.

Severe Damage and Clean-Up

While the driver walked away without injury, the vehicles involved were not as fortunate. Both the Toyota 4Runner and a parked Acura sedan sustained heavy structural damage and had to be flatbedded away from the River Road scene by tow trucks.
