Ridgewood NJ, History is happening right now in Bergen County! The Ridgewood Historical Society & Museum is officially inviting the public to witness a once-in-a-generation event: a special Time Capsule Ceremony honoring America’s 250th anniversary (the Semiquincentennial).

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Communities across the nation are looking back at our roots, but Ridgewood is taking it a step further by preserving a literal snapshot of life in 2026 for generations to come.

What’s Inside the Ridgewood 2026 Time Capsule?

The capsule serves as a historic anthology of our community spirit, capturing local culture, achievements, and everyday life. It features carefully curated contributions from:

  • Local Ridgewood schools

  • Old Paramus Reformed Church

  • The Bolger Heritage Center

  • The Ridgewood Public Library

  • The Ridgewood Historical Society

The capsule will be officially sealed and buried, with its grand reopening scheduled exactly 50 years from now in 2076 during America’s tricentennial celebration.

  1. What they should be bearing is news articles of the villager Ridgewood from the past six years the things that have been occurring. So they can read it down the road and say oh my God that really happened, oh yes. Wow there were that stupid back then? Yes they were.
