Rapid Emergency Response and Police Investigation

Upon arrival, Fair Lawn officers, alongside emergency responders from Fair Lawn EMS and Bergen County EMS, rendered immediate medical aid to the victims—a 47-year-old Fair Lawn resident and her 5-year-old child.

Both victims were transported in separate ambulances to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. Authorities report that the 5-year-old child suffered severe head injuries, while the mother sustained minor injuries.

Following the impact, the driver fled the scene in an older-model silver Honda Pilot.

Eastbound traffic on Broadway was restricted to a single lane for an extended period to allow investigators to process the scene. The Fair Lawn Police Department was assisted in the on-scene investigation by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
