New Rankings Reveal the Top 30 High Schools in Bergen County, New Jersey

Ridgewood NJ, The latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Bergen County made a strong showing, with two local high schools landing in the top 100 nationwide and four cracking New Jersey’s top 25.
How the Schools Were Ranked U.S. News reviewed over 27,000 public high schools using six core metrics:

College Readiness (30%): Proportions of 12th graders taking and passing AP or IB exams.

State Assessment Proficiency (20%): Performance on state-mandated tests.

State Assessment Performance (20%): Performance compared to expectations based on student demographics.

Underserved Student Performance (10%): Assessment results for Black, Hispanic, and low-income students.
