Readers express skepticism over the proposed senior housing structure

The proposed structure would be 6 stories tall.

According to the developer’s representative, 44 parking spaces would be required to support the facility (86 rooms, the number of full time and/or part time employees was not revealed). Net gain in parking could be 60 or could be less depending upon the number of employees at the facility.

A 6 story building would cast quite a shadow in that neighborhood, and also set somewhat of a precedent for those wishing to enlarge or build new structures in the CBD.

  1. Not to mention the annoyance of having to drive around the flattened bodies of elderly former pedestrians on Franklin.

That is a TERRIBLE place for assisted care. People who can’t drive (he said no resident would drive) should be near a park or at least a lawn.

Let’s view this proposed 6-story building, which must be rejected, as a good example of what we can expect if the planning board and village council agree to stick a shiv in the Master Plan. What’s next?

Amendments to the Constitution must not be taken lightly. There will be ramifications beyond belief.

  2. We are turning into Hackensack.
