Readers says Higher Taxes will be needed support the services needed to support this expansion

Valley, really does look like it will happen. They will just keep going until they get what they want. Is this expansion really good for anyone in Ridgewood?

A limited few, so why are we so ready to let them change the zoning and double in size? This process should have already ceased and been defeated in this town? What a waste of time. What a burden this would be if allowed to actually happen. Dust is the least of our worries. Traffic ,Traffic, and higher taxes to support the services needed to support this expansion is most concerning.

No one talks about Valley’s viable option in Paramus. There is plenty of room there and it’s not in a neighborhood next to a school. Unneeded irreversible damage will occur if the PB and Council allow this. Valley, may have enough “slippery” votes now to make this happen? Very Sad

  1. Higher taxes are one thing, the reputation of the town is another. Why anyone thinks this will improve the image has a problem dealing with reality.

  2. You know that higher taxes are coming because if were anything but, Valley would have an expert testify that allowing them to expand would lower everyone’s taxes in addition to improving traffic.

  3. Driving down Grove Street today, I saw a sprinkler company putting in sprinklers on the Grove Street Island . . .

  4. So what… We’re Rich.

    Ha Ha
    ripe for the plucking…

  5. More scare tactics. Higher taxes are because of the schools, period. Get a grip

  6. Really ? So this thing might lower my taxes ?

    1. THis ‘THING” has NOTHING to do with your taxes. Better check yourself into Valley and tell the doctors you are suffering from ‘cranial rectal inversion’. HURRY

  7. Let’s see, probably have to beef up the water and sewer lines at a minimum. I’m sure whatever roadway changes that are necessary won’t be completely funded by valley. The fire department will likely need new equipment to reach the tops of the buildings (1 ladder isn’t enough I wouldn’t think) The school district will probably have to increase plowing in the areas to be covered by the shadows. So yes, I can see pressure on town services as a result of this expansion.

  8. So I guess if any damage is done to the infrastructure during construction Valley will pay for it ?

As for the rest of your post,it sounds serious enough for me to go to HUMC rather than Valley. But thanks for the advice.

  9. The impact of an expanded Valley on our taxes has been conspicuously absent as a topic of discussion during these hearings. People posting here have only touched on a few areas that will require investment to support the expanded Valley. Don’t forget about Police who are routinely summoned to Valley for everything from rowdy drunks to stolen purses in the ER. We’ll also need wider roads (for the traffic improvements that Valley says are on the way) and better sewers (to carry the hundreds of thousands of drinking water a day that Valley plans to flush during its 6 year construction). You hate the water restrictions now?

Maybe when the new campus is re-assessed and Valley’s taxes go up. No, wait, strike that….

  10. A bigger Valley will strain our infrastructure, stretch Village resources, increase traffic and negatively impact the quality of life for a significant portion of Village residents. The project is too big for Ridgewood.

  11. It is amazing to hear the supporters of this expansion try and defend it. What does Ridgewood gain from this ? NOTHING. And I’m not talking just about the short term if this goes as proposed.

IThe bottom line is the risks far outweigh the rewards.

  12. There is no risk. Just build the damm thing already
