Hollywood Hits Bergen County: ‘Grown Ups 3’ Takes Over Downtown Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Downtown Ridgewood turned into a full-fledged movie set this week as Adam Sandler and the star-studded ensemble of Grown Ups 3 officially kicked off production on East Ridgewood Avenue.

More than 13 years after the release of Grown Ups 2, the hit comedy franchise is officially back, bringing Hollywood’s biggest comedy stars together in North Jersey.

Downtown Ridgewood Transformed into a Movie Set

Production crews were spotted setting up heavy equipment along East Ridgewood Avenue, with local hot spot Bareburger serving as a central hub for filming operations due to its extensive equipment coverage.

Sandler, alongside co-stars Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade, took time between takes to greet local fans, snap photos, and shake hands with crowd members gathered along the sidewalks.

This marks another major production for Ridgewood, which recently hosted William H. Macy and Susan Sarandon for the filming of Exit Right, as well as the Netflix feature starring Sandler’s daughter filmed at Ridgewood High School.

Original Cast Reunites Alongside New Faces

Directed by Kyle Newacheck (Happy Gilmore 2), the threequel brings back the core group of childhood friends and their families:

• Returning Core Stars: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, and Salma Hayek Pinault.

• New Additions: Joining the franchise for the third installment are Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and Bailee Madison.

A Look Back at the Franchise

The original 2010 blockbuster Grown Ups introduced audiences to five lifelong friends reuniting over a July 4th weekend after 30 years apart. The 2013 sequel followed Lenny Feder (Sandler) as he relocated his family back to his hometown, leading to memorable showdowns with old rivals.
