Gadflies: Reader says three amigos would like nothing better than not having these people show up at meetings

The three amigos would like nothing better than not having these people show up at meetings and questioning them. This way they can continue with their own personal agendas.

The last time I looked this is still the USA The open public meeting act is not there to protect the politicians from the people but to protect people from politicians. We have a right to attend any and all public meeting and question our elected official if we feel there is a need for a subject to be clarified.

This is what is going on in the government form the federal to the local. The elected official feel that they know better and they know what good for us so no one should question them.

  1. Given Bernie Walsh’s stated plans to leave the Council, we will really need citizens to come to Council meetings to keep our Mayor, Mr. Pucciarelli and Mrs. Hauck honest. I’ve never been comfortable with their voting as a block given each one’s personal agenda. Most concerning is Mrs. Hauck and her continuing to recuse herself on the Valley Hospital vote. Mrs. Walsh has long opposed the expansion and Mr. Aronson and Mr. Richie have each shown the ability to be for and against Valley depending on what works best for them that week. This issue is too important to allow Mrs. Hauck to have such an impact on the outcome given her many years as a Valley Vice President and chairperson of their black tie gala fundraisers.

Better yet, maybe one of the regular posters here would step up and run for office.

  2. I’m sure there are lots of residents who would like to participate and run for office.
However, after all of the negative comments that have been posted here with personal attacks who in their right mind would want to subject themselves to that.

  3. That’s a great point #2. I’d like to thank all the elected officials in The Village who sacrifice time away from their jobs and families to do what they think is right. Some of the comments by both The Blog Editorial Staff (a member of one) and the posters are way over the top. I hope you choose to post this James because the censorship you practice on a regular basis is pretty disingenuous.

  4. Well #2 If you are thin skinned then you should not run for public office.

  5. Sounds like some of the three amigos are posting, or their close-knit friend. Poor little me. I’m doing everything right and they are picking on me. I think I will have another lunch for the seniors or build another ramp for the handicapped or another building in the CBD. ” I want to be loved”

  6. I guess #1 is only talking about their candidates that neg posting on this blog. I think they should look at some of the other blogs to see how they post.

There’s a big diffence between ‘thin skinned’ and subjecting oneself to constant negative tirades and personal attacks from anonymous online posters who don’t have the balls to make their statements publicly. Make online anonymous ‘opinionated’ posts on issues that affect you but leave the personal attacks out of it unless you’re willing to come forward publicly.. I don’t agree with what some of our elected officials stand for, but I would not make personal attacks against them.

  8. And taking the ‘thin skinned comment’ from #4 one step further. In politics, the liberal media will do their best to tear apart any candidate this isn’t from their chosen left wing group. The did a hatchet job on Mitt Romney, and he’s a decent man. He created a lot more real jobs working at Bain Capital than any politician. They made him out to be a ‘bad guy’ and he’s worth $250m. But its ok for ‘Orca Winfrey’ to be worth over 2 billion and that load never created a job.

  9. #7 and you post Anonymous. Balls?

  10. If you disagree with the Three Amigos they will make it personal.
