Freeholder chief checks Ridgewood parking shortage

THE RECORD

RIDGEWOOD — Residents, officials and business leaders all seem to agree on one thing when it comes to the village: parking is scarce.

On Tuesday afternoon, Freeholder Chairman David Ganz took a quick tour of the downtown area, to survey the village’s parking situation.

Village officials have spent the last year talking with representatives from the Bergen County Improvement Authority about the possibility of the county financing, building and operating a parking deck in Ridgewood.

First, the freeholders would need to authorize the expenditure of $100,000 on a comprehensive study of the village’s current parking situation.

“We recently included Chairman Ganz in that conversation,” said Mayor Paul Aronsohn, “because the freeholders would have to approve BCIA’s use of transit funding for such a study.”

The funding issue could be discussed at the freeholders’ next meeting on Oct. 22.

  1. another study.. just what we need

  2. Seriously…can they not refer the freeholders to one of the numerous studies previously done and save the tax payers the 100K?? Where is Sedon with his stack of studies when we need him?

  3. It looks like everybody is looking for a piece of the action.

Just post some samples of parking garage bldg. that will answer the problem. You can’t avoid it any longer.

  4. We need a “parking deck” so… get it on paper and do the job !!!

  5. Sedon need your help

  6. Where id the leadership DOM?

  7. Isn’t Freeholder Chairman David Ganz running for election in nov? Figures he coming to Ridgewood looking for votes and our Mayor brought him here. I wonder how many times Ganz has been in town. Just a coincidence that Bernie is running against him. We all know how much our Mayor loves Bernie.

  8. The visit by Mr. Ganz was nothing more than a well orchestrated campaign stop. Nice try Paul.

  9. Our Mayor seems to have a bad habit of communicating only with those parts of a given legislative body that are aligned with him politically. What, is Freeholder Ganz the roving ambassador of the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders? Not to be too harsh, because it is good for freeholders to develop at least a working knowledge of the unique issues faced by the individual municipalities in their counties, but whenever I see P.A.’s name anywhere I start thinking there must be political prey in the vicinity, and hopefully, it’s not me!
