>The Ridgewood Post Office has a new postmaster. Post Office employees were notified this past Monday that former postmaster Frank Busciano was sent back to his previous post and the new postmaster, Mary Ellen Murray, was appointed. An investigation was undertaken in Newark and Washington, D.C. regarding the many complaints filed by employees and patrons against Frank Busciano. Postal employees mentioned that there will be a town meeting to discuss the possibility of opening the windows earlier than the now 10:00 a.m. window opening. Residents please watch for the date and time of this meeting and let your voices be heard. Should Ridgewood residents have any questions, they can contact Postmaster Mary Ellen Murray at 201-447-2135.

>Power to the people!
>This new postmaster is a gem. Ridgewood is very lucky to have her. I noticed a difference in the service in just the 2 days since she has been here.
My congratulations to the post office leadership that quickly recognized the problem, investigated the situation and made a change to improve its service to the public.
How about that? A public entity listening the the public!
The BOE should take a lesson.
Wow.
>I was at the post office today. Even though there was a line, there were 3 WINDOWS OPEN … it was amazing! I spoke with the postmaster … what a nice woman. The employees had smiles on their faces and the atmosphere was no longer subdued. Now let’s see if we can get our old window hours back (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
>all the people we elect should, too.
>Fact #1: The Ridgewood post office no longer opens their windows at 8:00 a.m. We must wait until 10:00 a.m.
Fact #2: There is no longer a “Ridgewood Only” mail box or slot inside the post office. The Ridgewood mail first is shipped to Paterson or Newark and then comes back to Ridgewood. Now there’s a waste of money on the part of the USPS.
I know for sure that Hohokus has early window hours and a “Hohokus Only” mailbox out front and a slot inside the post office. This is probably true for Glen Rock and Waldwick, too. Why are Ridgewood residents being punished?
>good question! What is the benefit of dropping the Ridgewood Only boxes??? New Postmaster, here is your first chance do fix an obvious mistake.
>What ever happened to the mail boxes around town?
To mail a letter you need to go to the post office–something like my grandfather did.
I’m not saying you need a mailbox on every corner, but at least one at each end of Ridgewood business district beside the one in the middle at the post office.
>The services have definitely been cut here in Ridgewood. I do not understand because Ridgewood’s post office is a very busy place. Seems that the USPS is trying to force us to use the automated machine in the lobby. Why not Glen Rock, Waldwick and Hohokus? I know a lot of people don’t like us Ridgewoodites. We can add the USPS to that growing list.
>A lot of Ridgewood people need to send mail overseas and the only way to do this is at a window. You can not send such mail using the automated machine.
I hate the new hours. I need to do my mail before work as I don’t get home in time do do it afterwards. I also want to mail early and not have to pay the parking meter.
I am now forced to go to Paramus to do my mailing and I miss the smiling frindly faces of MY postoffice.
>The USPS shortened the window hours (opening later) in Oakland and the residents came out in force complaining. Oakland has now returned to opening their windows early. Come on, Ridgewood residents, speak up. Call the new postmaster, Mary Ellen Murray, at 201-447-2135 to request a return to the old hours. Let’s take back our post office.
