Ridgewood NJ, the Village council passed a new sign resolution no. 16-137 effective 5/4/16. This allows
“A Frame” type signs on the sidewalks of the CBD until December 31, 2016
The Chamber of Commerce will be handed out a copy of the resolution on Monday 23, 2016 to Chamber members.
-The placement of any sign must not interfere with
pedestrian safety
-No sign shall be permitted to constrict the 52-inch
area of the sidewalk utilized by pedestrians.
-All signs must be removed at close of business.
-You need to contact the Village of Ridgewood with a
valid, current certificate of insurance, naming the Village of Ridgewood as additional insured for Comprehensive General Liability.
This must be done one week before placement of sign.
Signs are allowed during Sale Days meaning today.
Side street businesses during Sale Days only.
Can have one sign at the corner, place out of the way of pedestrian. Other stores must keep their signs in front of their own locations.
When are they going to change the ordinance to allow concrete planters that serve as walls?
So they didn’t do anything about political signs in the business district?
I guess politicians will never vote for that.
And who is going to enforce all these regulation ? Paulie the Greek and the Chamber own this town. These signs will creep out into the sidewalk like Paulie the Greeks planters and chairs.
The funny thing about the proposed “A Frame” sign ordinance is that selected members of the Chamber showed up at 1 or 2 Council meetings saying how important the signs were to businesses, basically claiming that if the ordinance wasn’t introduced and passed, many business would fail. Well guess what folks, the Village Manager recently reported that less than one handful of applications had been received from businesses to permit the erection of these types of signs. Leading me to surmise that the Chamber is full of shit.
I think it’s a good idea to fill the sidewalks with chairs, tables, signs, and walls so that everybody has to walk in the street and be hit by cars. Great planning!
great we will be just like seaside heights…except we have permanent planters in front of it’s greek to me on the sidewalk. I wonder if the new council will do anything about his planters??
