Ridgewood NJ, by all accounts last nights council meeting was very productive . In a major development Mayor Susan Knudsen  publicly announced that the controversial proposed “revitalization” of Van Neste Memorial Park project has been suspended as of August 27,2016.

  1. Common sense prevailed, finally.

  2. All they really need do is tidy it up a bit. I like the idea of a fence on the east edge by the stone wall, though it’s not critical. Parents can actually, you know, parent, in order to keep their kids from falling off. There was definitely no need for a big project here. I don’t know who was going to get that sweetheart job, but sorry, buddy. We have teachers who need a contract, and if there is one place I don’t mind spending tax dollars, it’s on education. And I mean real education, not just the Christian Bible and the US Constitution.

  3. Van Neste was killed because of THE BLOG. The tremendous backlash about that idiotic proposal was all over THE BLOG, and Roberta caved. She was the worst, I tell you the worst. Thank God she is gone.

  4. Last night was the best when Ed Feldstodt said he worked with Roberta on the Tiger Team. He said she was a good hostess but was never a good manager. He also said, “She was not fired, she resigned. But she should have been fired.” Brought down the house

  5. Now Kings Pond will get the attention it needs. Amazing how well things are going now that Roberta is GONE. Smooth as silk.

  6. so one 100K project was killed in favor of another 500K project?
Also what was the pathway that Village Engineer wants to make from the DoT grant? What was that “other” project? I can guarantee that conquest will be the ONLY bidder. How come only one bidder bids on all concrete projects and now even on grass cutting projects?

  7. Ed Feldstodt is a hypocrite and pathetic. He fully and actively supported and campaigned for for the 3 Amigos and as far as Roberta goes he sang her praises when she was hired as Village Manager. Who is he kidding ?

  8. No ugly fence at Van Neste PLEASE. I have lived and enjoyed Van Neste for about 40 years now and in the past with small kids. No one has EVER FALLEN OFF.

Damn , parents can’t teach their kids how to be careful or watch them anymore. So what are you gonna do, keep them in your womb all their life.

It’s an outrage that Healthbarn has to crowd a neighborhood where people bought in thinkin it was peaceful. I don’t live there, but I can tell you we live in Bergen County and Ridgewood, of course, where there is super plentiful access to fruits and veggies and tons of media publicity on how to cook simply and healthfully. It is expensive to send kids to Healthbarn. I just called Healthbarn and it costs $300 dollars for kids from three to five years for a ten week course in gardening or cooking. The mothers who are sending their kids there are doing it just to get rid of there kids for a while , and they don’t care about the disturbance around the neighborhood for the people who live there from buses, lights, the kids crowding the park.

But yet in poor neighborhoods in Paterson for example , food stores do not carry enough fruits and veggies, and that is the real problem. Everyone , yes EVERYONE knows what the Obamas are recommending on healthy eating, and can easily copy,IF their neighborhoods carry fruits and veggies. According to the Record a few days ago Christie vetoed a bill that would have ensured access to fruits and veggies to small food stores in poor neighborhoods. THAT is the problem. The lazy mothers here know more than I do about healthy eating, but they just want to get rid of there kids so they can sit in Starbucks or whatever. I care very deeply about the environment, and a BIG Part of a beneficial, healthy environment is one that has minimal traffic, lights and noise. Hillcrest is now ruined because of a Health Barn that is making a neighborhood that was once healthy, SICK. We should not have Healthbarn here ruining an expensive neighborhood for people who are paying gargantuan taxes. By the way, poor neighborhoods have access to Healthbarn IF the school pays for a field trip for a one hour class on gardening or cooking etc. Healthbarn is taking advantage of rich lazy parents who don’t care about their neighbors.

  9. @10:24. Spot on about healthbarn. Now at last nights meeting the owner oddly lawyers up and threatened to take legal action against the town and residents! From my understanding it is the noise, busses and lights that this business brought into the neighborhood that people are upset about but yet now there is an underlying threat of a law suit. The new valley hospital!

  10. Yes I saw the law suit underlying threat and the friend of healthbarn who claimed to be so educated on town events should be embarressed to have spoken out on the behalf of a business that may sue the town.

  11. Healthbarn is wrong. Evict and let them rent one of Ed Sullivan’s overpriced commercial properties.

  12. As I commented in response to another post…Is it legal to operate a business of any kind in a residentially zoned area? is it legal to operate a business on land purchased through the Green Acre funds? Non-profit (?) or not, it is still a business there.
