Re-line the Dangerous Pedestrian Crossing in front of the Library before daylight savings dark afternoons and early winter Sunsets.
Could the Maple Ave. crosswalk between Kings and the library be painted in fluorescent or reflective paint? It’s very dangerous–anything that could be done to mitigate that would be a good idea.
Wait one minute! Why can’t you paint the crosswalks that need attention, which is basically all of them? Do pedestrian lives not matter?
Please paint more visible crosswalks at the corner of S. Irving and Ridgewood Ave. Also, the crosswalks across Ridgewood Ave in front of the High School – 2 of them. Also, the crosswalks at the corner of Ridgewood Ave and Maple. Pedestrian lives matter, too.
that is all and nice, but i do mean but. people need to wake up and start looking be for steeping foot into the road, it,s time for some to wake up.
This has nothing to do with people not looking before stepping out into the street. It has everything to do with making the crosswalks visible to pedestrians and drivers. If you are not looking before you cross the street then you deserve to be hit.

People just think that if they are in the right “legally” (pedestrians have the right of way – vehicles must stop for pedestrians) then the laws of physics do not apply (driver ignores law. 4500lb SUV hits 145lb pedestrian – pedestrian dies)
6:18 – If the pedestrian is inside a crosswalk(with a positive cross signal if at a traffic light) and gets hit then it is the drivers fault. Period. It is the LAW in New Jersey. If someone is jay-walking and gets hit then it is THEIR fault. Period. If a driver can see the crosswalk then it should be a signal for them to take caution and slow down because there may be someone preparing to cross. This is why Ridgewood needs to clean up the pedestrian crossings.
