North Arlington NJ, the North Arlington Fire Department (NAFD) had a whirlwind of activity yesterday, showcasing their dedication to keeping the community safe through teamwork and swift action.
Morning Rescue Assistance in Kearny
The day began early, with the NAFD Swiftwater Crew joining a search operation in Kearny at 9:00 AM. Their specialized skills and commitment to regional cooperation played a vital role in the ongoing efforts.
Evening Fire at Arlington Diner
Later in the day, at 5:18 PM, the North Arlington Fire Department responded to an emergency call from the Arlington Diner on River Road. Initially reported as an odor of something burning, the situation quickly escalated to a roof fire.
With the assistance of the Lyndhurst Fire Department and Kearny Fire Department, firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control in about an hour.
- Outcome:
- No injuries reported.
- Minimal damage confined to a small section of the roof, which is already undergoing repairs.
- The diner was closed for the remainder of Saturday but reopened on Sunday morning.
Annual Open Fire Board Meeting
Following a day of intense activity, North Arlington Fire Department members headed to their headquarters to attend the annual open fire board meeting. It was an opportunity to reflect on their accomplishments and align on future goals with the support of the mayor, council, and their families.
