Mahwah NJ, in a Facebook post , Jim Wysocki, Mayor of Mahwah said , “I’m dedicated to keeping our town a respectful and welcoming community, especially during campaign season. However, I recently encountered an unfortunate situation that prompted me to share an important message. A picture surfaced of one of my campaign signs tossed into the woods, and I can assure you, I did not put it there.
Tampering with or removing campaign signs may not seem like a big deal to those responsible, but it’s an issue that affects the candidates and their teams, who are working hard to serve the community. Whether you support a particular candidate or not, I can guarantee that no candidate wants their supporters removing or damaging signs. These actions not only disrupt the campaign process but also cast an ugly shadow over our town.
I’ve seen posts on social media and heard from residents who share their disapproval of sign tampering. This is not the way we want to represent Mahwah. We all deserve a fair and respectful election process, and that includes respecting the signs and messages of every candidate.
If you see a sign that’s fallen or wobbly, I encourage you to do what I do—stand it back up or make it sturdier. Let’s leave the signs where they belong and focus on the positive aspects of this campaign season.
Please, Mahwah, respect all the candidates and the campaign process. Let’s keep our town’s reputation one of mutual respect and community spirit.”
