Glen Rock NJ, It has been a historic week in Glen Rock, New Jersey. After four decades of dedicated service to the borough, Chief Dean Ackermann has officially signed off for the last time, marking the end of an illustrious 40-year career in law enforcement.

A Legacy of Service: Chief Dean Ackermann’s Final Call

Yesterday, surrounded by a sea of blue—including family, friends, fellow officers, and grateful community members—Chief Ackermann made his final radio call from GRPD headquarters.

Ackermann’s 40-year tenure saw the department through decades of growth and change. His leadership was defined by a deep commitment to community policing and the safety of Glen Rock residents. The department and the borough extend their deepest gratitude for his lifelong sacrifices and steady hand at the helm.

Meet the New Chief: Michael Trover Takes the Lead

Following the retirement ceremony, Captain Michael Trover was officially sworn in as the new Chief of Police.

Chief Trover is a veteran of the force with over 20 years of law enforcement experience. His rise to the top rank is backed by a diverse professional background within the GRPD, having served as:

  • Patrol Officer

  • Detective

  • Patrol Sergeant

  • Captain

This “boots-on-the-ground” experience ensures that the GRPD remains in capable hands as Chief Trover looks to lead the department toward “even greater heights” in public safety and community engagement.
