Teaneck Romance Turns to Ransom: Bronx Woman Charged in Explicit Video Extortion Plot

Teaneck NJ, Local authorities are warning residents about the rising dangers of “sextortion” following a high-profile arrest involving a former couple in Teaneck, New Jersey.
The Incident: From Dating to Distrust
According to the Teaneck Police Department, what began as a dating relationship ended in a criminal investigation. A Bronx woman, identified as Kariymah Negron, 36, was arrested on February 17, 2026, following allegations that she weaponized intimate content for financial gain.
The investigation began in July 2025 when a Teaneck resident reported they were being extorted. Police state that Negron demanded money in exchange for not releasing explicit videos of the victim.
The Escalation: Threats Beyond the Screen
When the victim initially refused to pay the ransom, the situation escalated. According to Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel, Negron allegedly threatened to send an anonymous email to the victim’s employer, falsely claiming the victim was using illegal narcotics.
Fearing for their professional reputation and livelihood, the victim succumbed to the pressure and electronically transferred $100 to Negron.
The Investigation and Arrest
Detective Matthew Carratura led a detailed investigation into the digital footprint of the crime. By obtaining subpoenas for cellular telephone records and payment service subscriber information, detectives were able to link the extortion attempts directly to Negron.

Status: Negron was processed at the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center and released pending a future court date.
