Ridgewood NJ, the recent lock down of the Pickleball courts at Glen School has lead other neighbors to wonder why their complaints seem to be ignored ?
“Didn’t the Glenn school neighborhood get $20,000 for bushes to be planted to help with the noise coming from the courts? Habernickle neighbors got a business added, parking lot lights (pickle ball courts have NO lights) double yellow line added to Hillcrest Rd I can continue but my point is we haven’t seen a dine to help with all that has disrupted our neighborhood!!!! We also have lost a lot of trees that added protection form the homes on Andover which have to look at school buses, headlights from cars & parking lot lights streaming into homes. No new trees were added only stumps remain. Why is that? The neighbors on Andover signed a petition to have the lights turned off but oddly enough that was never looked into. So Glenn school neighbors be happy you have the Mayor on your side to help because we have gotten no support!!!!”
and
“I wonder why the pickle ball courts got more attention and quick action when the Habernickel neighbors who had a business out in their backyards and no one seems to care…with little to know revenue for ridgewood ,Unfair”
one commenter even asked
“The Village did not follow Administrative Law procedure. They are supposed to notify the Public of a meeting. Have a meeting with Public Comment and then Vote. This was done unilaterally by the Mayor in an illegal manner. .”
So now for the obvious question , what set of circumstances gets the Village to act on neighbors complaints , and what are the guidelines or standards ? Residents and Pickleball players alike should have a clear set of guidelines if not it just looks like once again the Village of Ridgewood is playing favorites .
Could not agreed more. Is it favoritism? Is it an east side west side thing?
All I know is before you put anything that changes the quality of life of a tax payer in their neighborhood you should follow quidelines. And take a moment and say “ would I like this so close to my home?” Talk to them, comprise and certainly know what you signed up for.
I personally know first hand that the neighbors of Habernickel were LIED to by the former council, the business owner, the cop that did his false study and compared that quiet area of hillcrest rd to Linwood Ave, the engineer who later threatened neighbors
The council and village manager have a lot of cleanup and they should start over there
And anyone who thinks they know what is going on should really get the FACTS before they comment or get involved. What happened to those neighbors is a complete disgrace and Nancy Bigios is the BIggest part of the problem but council turned a blind eye for 5 years
What happened to my hometown? Things use to get resolved without meetings by people talking to each other! Been gone for number of years but stay in touch with the town. Pretty bad when the older folks can’t get some exercise. Lighten up you new folks and let people enjoy themselves .

.
Would be nice if neighbors with issues caused by the town were NOT put down by others and it would be nice if the higher ups in town respected everyone. I don’t even think the village manager lives in town so why would she care. The fact is everyone should care and want the best for each other not knock them down.
The Mayor has acted illegally. If a compromise cannot be reached The Village will wind up in Court. This doesnt work to anyones benefit. Therefore we need a compromise.
Foam Quiet Ball by Gamma
The Foam Quiet Ball by Gamma is a simple solution to the noise complaints about the sound of paddles hitting balls. This ball is made out of foam, greatly reducing the amount of noise produced on impact. However, the ball plays slightly different than the typical pickleball made from plastic. You won’t get the characteristic pickleball pop from the Foam Quiet Ball. It can be used in casual games, drills, or practice but is not approved for official tournament use. This ball also works well for casual dink practice against indoor walls.
The Foam Quiet Ball is a bit smaller than a traditional pickleball. However, this difference is less than a tenth of an inch and is almost unnoticeable. It is the lightest ball on the market, weighing only 0.71 ounces. Those playing outside should pay special attention to weather conditions as wind can affect the movement of the ball. This ball does have a relatively good average bounce height of 32”.
The Foam Quiet Ball is available in yellow only and sold in packages of six.
Don’t want noise?
Then pay up and buy a house that is not next to a court.
You saved the money and now are complaining.
Reminds me of all of the people who signed up for military reserves to get free college and were pissed off when war broke out and they actually had to go to combat.
You got what you paid for.
You took a chance.
Now live with it.

Please provide details. If this is the case, then we need to bring legal action. And, I will happily spend my own money to do so.
