A Momentous Occasion
During the Closing Ceremony, the Paralympic flag will be handed over to a delegation from Los Angeles (LA28), marking the transition to the next host of the Summer Paralympic Games, set to take place in 2028. This symbolic exchange will usher in an exciting new chapter for the Paralympics, as Los Angeles prepares to host its first-ever Paralympic Games.
The LA28 celebration at the Paris Closing Ceremony will feature a dynamic lineup of performers, including:
- Ali Stroker, Tony Award-winning actress and Broadway star
- Anderson .Paak, eight-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist
- Matthew Whitaker, acclaimed jazz pianist
- Gaelynn Lea, violinist and Broadway composer
They will be joined by Team USA Paralympians and LA natives Samantha Bosco, Ezra Frech, and Jamal Hill, representing the spirit of the upcoming LA28 Games.
The Historic LA28 Handover
According to LA28 Chairperson Casey Wasserman, the Handover will be a “historic moment” for Los Angeles as it prepares to showcase its first-ever Paralympic Games. “We are thrilled to spotlight the Paralympics with a cast of allies, artists, and advocates who share our commitment to furthering the Movement,” said Wasserman.
