Pension benefits are too good as it is and now the unions want to make sure their pensions take priority over all other residents, and over all other spending in the state? This in addition to “platinum” health care?
The state constitution is not a budget, it’s the founding document of that state. So why do public pensioners deserve special, preferential treatment from our state constitution above everybody else in the state? No other state in the country does this. This means that public pensions will take priority over all other state spending on schools, hospitals, bridges, tunnels, state parks & beaches, etc. So when a bridge collapses, thank your public sector friends who have never, ever missed a fat defined benefit pension check or had a healthcare bill go unpaid.
The unions have already destroyed the state’s finances despite the highest state + municipal taxes in the country. Now they want to enshrine their benefits as a constitutionally mandated right above every other state resident? This is outright theft.
Vote no come election day.
