Consumer Prices in U.S. Rose in February as Gasoline Jumped
By Alex Kowalski – Mar 16, 2012 8:48 AM ET
The cost of living in the U.S. rose in February by the most in 10 months, reflecting a jump in gasoline that failed to spread to other goods and services.
The consumer-price index climbed 0.4 percent, matching the median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News, after increasing 0.2 percent the prior month, the Labor Department reported today in Washington. The so-called core measure, which excludes more volatile food and energy costs, climbed 0.1 percent, less than projected.

Home Rule: The biggest savings would come from doing away with most of the county government
I think the biggest savings would come from doing away with most of the county goverment. The circus act that our elected county officals of both parties have been for the last decade or more is a disgrace! These people can’t even get along with each other and they want other people to go into business with them? Who in their right mind would want to put their head in that hornets nest!
Look at what is going on in Nassau County? They have large regional county services and saving nothing. They are cutting services and closing police stations. Not to mention the many other cuts to quality of life services. My family still lives in Nassau and their property taxes were no better then they are in Ridgewood!

Side Effects: Doctors Fear Obamacare
Alyene SengerMarch 14, 2012 at 2:46 pm
The American public doesn’t support Obamacare, and a new survey shows that doctors have an even worse opinion. No one has a better grasp on the state of the health care system than physicians, and according to the Doctors Company survey, 60 percent of them believe that Obamacare will have a negative impact on overall patient care. This survey is consistent with the findings of another doctor survey taken in October 2010, which also showed doctors’ lack of confidence in Obamacare.
The survey was conducted to unveil physicians’ concerns about health care reform. The Doctors Company, which is the largest insurer of physician and surgeon medical liability in the nation, received more than 5,000 surveys, including all specialties and every region in the country. The results weren’t good for the President’s signature piece of legislation.
Not only do doctors believe that Obamacare will not improve the health care system, they also anticipate that it will worsen the current condition. According to the survey, nine out of 10 physicians are unwilling to recommend health care as a profession to a family member, and one primary care physician even commented, “I would not recommend becoming an M.D. to anyone.”

I do like Kathy Donovan but I think there is more to it. As written in North Jersey Media. piece ; according to Little Ferry Borough Administrator Michael Capabianco, the contract offered to Teterboro by County P D is $100,000 a year for three years. We all know a police officer’s salary and benefits in Bergen county far exceed this . So how do you patrol the entire town of Teterboro 24/7 for that amount. I would suspect that the costs are being passed on to each resident in Bergen County through county taxes.
Getting rid of home rule is clearly an attempt to consolidate more power by the County. A more distant County PD will become a far lager bureaucracy and be far less responsive to local needs . Just think how long it will take a Bergen Police Officer to respond to your call for help from where their stationed.
The Cost saving would to disband the County police and supplement local Police departments to pickup the slack to patrol Bergen County property would in my mind realize greater cost savings and keep policing local where they better understand the local situation.
