Cory Booker’s Welfare Plan Will Bankrupt America
July 10,2013

“Cory Booker’s plan to increase welfare benefits and government handouts is even more extreme than any of the left-wing ideas the Obama administration has proposed…”

Ridgewood NJ, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Lonegan denounced Cory Booker’s plan to increase government welfare programs. “Cory Booker’s plan to increase welfare benefits and government handouts is even more extreme than any of the left-wing ideas the Obama administration has proposed,” Mayor Lonegan said. “It’s proof that not only will Cory Booker be a rubber stamp for President Obama in the U.S. Senate, he will go even further – increasing the deficit further, destroying more jobs, and making even more Americans dependent on the federal government.”

“It is these kinds of welfare programs that ruined great cities like Newark, and now Cory Booker wants to force these same failed ideas on the rest of the nation. As a U.S. senator, I will work to undo these policies and fight for less government, more personal responsibility, and greater individual liberty.”

The Emerson Board of Education (BOE) appointed Brian Gatens as Emerson’s new superintendent of schools on Monday.

“Congratulations… The whole board was in agreement that you were our guy,” said BOE President Mary Reid at a special meeting held to appoint Gatens on July 8.

Pending transition timelines, the BOE anticipates Gatens’ start date will be during or near late summer. “Preferably before the start of the school year,” explained Interim Superintendent Larry Hughes.

Readers debate  why Village Employees on the Tiger Team ?

No one from the employees? how come there are different term lengths?

The finance committee does not need village employees. These people were selected on their qualifications and seem to have a lot of experience. Just what we need.

This will just be another group, saying the employees make too much and we have to cut wages and benefits, nothing will be said about long term debt , buying up property that could be put back on the tax roles, and and bringing in multiple housing units instead of rateable s, to an already crowded school system.

Reader says The Village is being bombarded by special interests that each have their pet construction project

To say that residents are “asleep at the switch” is probably too harsh an assessment. The Village is being bombarded by special interests that each have their pet construction project. Along with each project is a set of residents that have a special interest in seeing that particular project shot down. See the west siders that don’t want apartments on the Ken Smith site not caring one way or another about Valley or the CRR who probably don’t care too much about where the parking garage goes.

What the Village needs and obviously lacks is vision by our elected officials. But, alas, Aronsohn, Pucciarelli and Hauck all have their own pet project that they ran for office to get done. If things go wrong from here, history will show that this Council missed a great opportunity to craft a vision for the Village in the 21st century. We do need parking and a few housing units. The hospital does need to modernize. But since each project is being championed by individual or entity that wants the biggest possible building, there’s no way for everyone to get their way without changing life in Ridgewood for the worse.

Corrupt doctors, phony wellness clinics and organized crime groups have exploited an under-regulated health care system to feed a growing epidemic of prescription painkiller and heroin addiction across New Jersey, according to a report released by state investigators Wednesday.

From a heroin mill in Cliffside Park and sham medical centers in Passaic and Wallington to gangs in Paterson and addicts in northern Bergen County suburbs, the report by the State Commission of Investigation highlighted North Jersey as a nexus of the regional heroin and opiate painkiller trade.

The result of a two-year probe, the report describes “the descent of sworn medical professionals into outright drug dealers” and “the intrusion of organized crime and other criminal elements into lucrative recesses of the health-care industry to feed an epidemic of demand for drugs.”

The commission’s recommendations focus on business regulation and supply-side policies, such as strengthening the state’s prescription drug monitoring program, regulation of prepaid cellphones and other tools of drug dealers, and the formation of a state strike force for drug investigations.

A key member of the Democrats’ 2011 legislative redistricting team is back in the state this election season to defend the map he helped build.

Tom Bonier, who was a primary consultant to the team that created the map ultimately chosen by the tie-breaking member of the commission is consulting with legislative Democrats on micro-targeting, the analytic strategy employed so successfully last year by President Obama.

As a consultant to the Democratic election team, Bonier is providing analytics in every district in the state to help Democratic candidates hone their messages and retain the advantages they hold in both houses.

“Analytics are all about being able to have targeted conversations with voters and being able to talk to voters about issues that they are most likely concerned with in order to focus those conversations,” said Bonier, who is from Massachusetts and now is based in Washington, D.C. “Races encompass a multitude of issues and you can’t have a conversation with every voter about every issue so this helps narrow the conversation.”

Chicago Residents File Suit To Stop Delivery Of Free-Ad Papers
July 9, 2013 5:29 PM

CHICAGO (CBS) — Residents in Humboldt Park and Logan Square have had it with those free ad-papers that pile up on your doorstep.

Publishers call them a service but some homeowners just call them a nuisance.

Now, they’ve taken action, and achieved some results, reports CBS 2’s Derrick Blakley.

For Humboldt Park resident Shehzad Hoossein, it’s a frustrating, daily ritual to pick up the free paper from the front lawn and toss it in the recycling bin.

“If you walk up and down the street here you’ll just see these all over the place. It’s just ugly,” said Hoosein.

Some houses get two or three a day, piled up on porches and littering the parkways. Hamilton Soto has lived in his Humboldt Park home for over 30 years.

Baby bust? National birthrate hits an all-time low due to weak economic recovery
By Alex Greig
PUBLISHED: 09:10 EST, 9 July 2013 | UPDATED: 09:35 EST, 9 July 2013

During the recession, the birthrate dropped after a high in 2007
The recession has been officially over for four years
The birthrate hit an all-time low in 2011 and stayed there in 2012
Economic uncertainty coupled with a general trend towards fewer births means there may not be a bounce-back in birthrates

The recession has been over for four years, but the birth rate in the U.S. continues to fall as many people struggle with a sluggish economy and financial uncertainty.

According to a recent analysis by the Pew Institute, since 2007 when there were a record 4,316,233 births, the number of births has been steadily declining, with 4,007,000 births in 2012 – the lowest number since 1998.

Analysts say that the birthrate is dictated by the economy.

Docs: Justice Department facilitated anti-Zimmerman protests

A division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was deployed to Sanford, Florida in 2012 to provide assistance for anti-George Zimmerman protests, including a rally headlined by activist Al Sharpton, according to newly released documents.

The Community Relations Service (CRS), a unit of DOJ, reported expenses related to its deployment in Sanford to help manage protests between March and April 2012, according to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.

CRS spent $674.14 between March 25-27 related to having been “deployed to Sanford, FL, to work marches, demonstrations, and rallies related to the shooting and death of an African-American teen by a neighborhood watch captain.” CRS spent another $1,142.84 for the same purpose between March 25-28.

CAN A U.N. TREATY TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY?

CAN A U.N. TREATY TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY?
July 10,2013
Ron DuBois
5:04 AM

There was a Presidential debate question that asked, ” Will you sign a Gun Ban Treaty?” This loaded question (pardon the pun) gave many the idea that the Federal Government, by signing such a Treaty, could grant itself the ability to authorize the U.N. Treaty, causing Americans to be disarmed, and/or limited in their ownership of firearms or ammunition. This, in spite of the Constitution’s limitations on Congress and the President to do this. Americans just don’t take these attacks on our rights seriously, and don’t research for themselves, allowing the Media to tell us what is right, even when the Media is (purposely) wrong.

Under the Constitution, only the States have Police power. Only they define criminal law and enforce it. The Federal government only has the powers that were delegated to it, and only has Police power regarding “Offenses against the U.S.”

The U.S. Department of Justice, under Obama, has tried to convince the Supreme Court that the Federal government may use Treaties to expand its power over the people (including usurping States rights, contrary to the 10th Amendment.) Again, if you rely on the Media, you may believe this crap.

Since before half of us were born, there have been those pursuing a One-World government. Only in more recent years, feeling they may soon succeed, have they been more overt with their plans. In case you are not aware, the U.N. Agenda-21 and the U.N. Small Arms Treaty are just two of their tools. Research these. President Obama and the elitists on the Left, like George Soros, the Clintons, and many more, welcome a One-World government, because they and their fellow Socialists/Marxists would be in charge, and you and I would be the forever-poor serfs under their thumbs. It would be run under the U.N., paid for by the world’s tax dollars, and enforced by a U.N. military comprised of an International force.

I give this bit of background, because I know so any Americans are unaware (and won’t catch on until it is too late for them). The U.N. Small Arms Treaty is a very important step because, as history has shown, all Tyrants started by disarming the people. Since Congress has so far thwarted Obama from taking our guns at every step, the U.N. Treaty is his attempt to get around them, and the Constitution.

As I pointed out in my opening, Obama has put out the idea that he can get around the Constitution by signing Treaties, issuing Executive Orders, and ignring the Constitution and the Supreme Court, which he has already done a number of times.

But the Supreme Court has, on every occassion, upheld the Constitution – and it will, until it is stacked with enough Leftist choices, such as Kagan and Sotomayor. They only need one more, since nobody seems to care anymore if the new Justices follow the law or make new law according to their personal beliefs. So far, in Reid vs, Covert, the Court ruled, “…no agreement with a foreign nation can confer power on the Congress, or any other branch of government, whch is free from the constraints of the Constitution”. Also, “…an international accord that is inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution is void under U.S. Domestic law, the same as any other Federal law in conflict with the Constitution. I believe Obama is not at all opposed to inoring the Court an the Constitution, and the Eric Holder Department of Justice would not be averse to enforcing the President’s law-breaking.

So I assure you that the U.N. Small Arms Treaty would not supercede the U.S. Constitution, no matter what the President and the Media say, but I cannot assure you that the U.S. Constitution will be followed by President Obama or Eric Holder. The only assurance we can have, is if we ALL understand the truth by researching for ourselves, and then bombard our Senators and Congresspeople with the news that we know the truth, and will not tolerate their ignoring it.

Readers say Common Core nothing more than State Indoctrination and Propaganda Program

Since education is not specifically in the Constitution as a federal responsibility it is a state right.

The federal government is creating a bureaucracy around education. The federal government is the last entity that should be involved in education. They do not have a track record of doing anything well. They will surely make things worse.

I have no problem with state educators getting together to come up with goals as long as they cannot be forced on states that do not want them.

The federal government needs to get back to their core responsibilities and focus on doing well in a very limited set of departments.

Reader says It is pure negligence to rely on the opinion of a so-called “expert” who is paid by the party seeking to have its plan approved.

It is pure negligence to rely on the opinion of a so-called “expert” who is paid by the party seeking to have its plan approved. The town should insist on an expert opinion that does not allow for even the appearance of bias toward either side of this issue.

The first question from the public at the first “new” Planning Board hearings was something like this: “Planning Board, you have already approved a slightly larger proposal by Valley. Is there any point to these new meetings? Isn’t your approval of this slightly less invasive plan a slam dunk?” They seemed not to like this and gave the predictable response.

You Just have to hope the PB are looking out for what is best for the citizens of Ridgewood. If they do that, which is why they are there to begin with, stopping this before it goes any further is a no-brainier. You have to remember that only a very few benefit from this expansion, the majority of this town does not.Even the supporters know that.
