Ridgewood NJ, quite a scene was made by Ridgewood Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd during Friday evening’s videotaped Budget Meeting when she pitched a 10-minute long fit to Village Manager Heather Mailander.

The Councilwoman was livid that she had not been invited to attend a recent meeting between selected Village employees and representatives from the State of NJ’s Historic Preservation Office. She blamed Ms. Mailander for the alleged oversight.

The meeting, which took place at the Schedler property on West Saddle River Road, was requested by State representatives so that they could familiarize themselves with the property. No members of the Village Council were in attendance at the meeting (none of them were invited).

Despite repeated explanations and apologies offered by Ms. Mailander, Councilwoman Winograd continued to berate her for full 10-minutes.

The staff of The Ridgewood Blog firmly believes that this was no way for the Councilwoman to have conducted herself during a public meeting. We are aware that there is no love lost between the two individuals, but this behavior was totally uncalled for, and well over the top.

  1. Council members are not supposed to administer. Village manager and their staff runs the village.
A council member has no authority unless they are sitting at that dais with their four colleagues once in two weeks. That’s when they take collective action. They should not be interfering in day to day work.

    1. She’s only trying to emulate our wonderful Governor.

    1. It’s great !

And Pee Wee is entertaining too!

  4. Siobhan wanted to charm the State of NJ’s Historic Preservation Office into accepting a mega astroturf facility on the grounds of an historic property.

  5. A Village Mgr might have invited the Council but since our town only has a Village Clerk it is understandable the council was overlooked.

    1. Heather still holds both titles until a new (“normal”) Village Manager is hired.

  6. I believe Heather recused herself on the decision to invite Ms Winograd to the meeting.

  7. The twit should be reminded that Councilwoman Reynolds wasn’t “invited” to partake in the illegal decision to fire Heather, and that’s supposed to be an actual council decision. RICE notices need to be issued, and the employee has the right to request the discussion to be held in public or closed session. None of that happened. Instead the Vag and his cronies did that on their own. The four of them are pieces of shit.

  8. So upset because they couldn’t control the messaging. Certain members of this council are very focused on controlling information and the narrative.

It’s 1984 in the Village again.

    1. Yep. She ruled the Ridgewood Moms and Dads Facebook page with an iron fist. If you disagreed with her, you got booted. She’s out of her element now. She just can’t seem to come to grips with the fact that she’s not completely in control.

      1. explain to me why a “grown adult” would give a crap about what Facebook group they are in? , the voters enabled her and now they are stuck with watching the town fall apart , like I have said before Ridgewood used to be “They Town” now its, “a town” and there is a big difference

      2. “She ruled the Ridgewood Moms and Dads Facebook page with an iron fist. If you disagreed with her, you got booted”

It’s good such things NEVER happen here on the blog.(eyeroll)

          1. I agree with PJ(James) , because stupid prevails on social media does not mean its a good way to run a town or anything else

    2. Funny you bring up 1984 on the blog’s daily “two minutes hate” post.

  9. Listen for Heather she should just stand on her tooth feet and say you know what now it’s time for me to totally resign from being the village manager go find yourself a part-time manager to fill-in until you have a full-time one. This is just not healthy for me. Number two the mayor and council want to control all employees, the morale throughout the village is horrible. Everything is out of control. No one cares, they just do what they have to do go with the flow day by day. No foresight. The town is completely in shambles. Can you imagine being an outsider looking to get a job in the village and reading all the stuff that’s going on throughout the media. You would say to yourself oh my god what the hell is going on. Well that’s what everyone else is saying outside of the village. the villages in no real mess again. They lost all experience.

    1. Heather is doing the right thing by staying on board until a new Manager is sworn in.

  11. We understand that she’s trying to do the right thing. But the problem is when you do the right thing in the village, no one cares. There’s always someone trying to push you back against the wall. Or put their thumb on top of your head and push you down. They have a new logic – they don’t want anyone across the board with brains. Because then you become a threat. They would like to be able to control everyone. There’s no more heroes, there’s no more grabbing the bull by the horns. everyone is controlled by the rains. Or strings on a puppet. Let them get a new police chief new manager from Utopia. because whoever takes these jobs they’re going to put all the baloney right in their lap. It’s just not worth it. No matter how much money that they will pay you.Your sanity is worth more. Trust me ,and this is coming from experience the village should really convert a small office into some kind of therapy for the village staff. Just like the village has attorneys put into the budget ,just have a full-time-therapist, with labor experience . I that would actually help him and make their entire labor force a better place a healthier place to work because the morale is terrible, this is been going on for the past four years. Everyone knows what’s been going on they just don’t have the balls to say so. they’re not stupid.

      1. She has no clue what the right thing is, neither does our own agenda Mayor.

  12. She is pissed that she missed a photo op.

  13. MESSAGE TO RIDGEWOOD VOTERS : pretending someone is qualified does not make them qualified

  14. Where can we see or hear the exchange? YouTube? Was a long meeting but just scrolling quickly couldn’t find it.

    1. Her ridiculous diatribe begins 33 minutes into the 02242023 Budget Meeting YouTube.

  15. Chauvin is under pressure from her husband, the sports fanatic and his sporty friends. Promises were made that she’s gonna get an enormous field there. She’s getting frantic now because people are pushing back. It infuriated her that she didn’t get to go to that Schedler walk around with the people from the state. But I listen to the meeting, and Heather said if the whole council had come, and other members of the public. The state would have been able to do what they had to do. The state requested to take a walk around with members of the staff. If there’s someone on SHPO , who knows Siobhan, they probably specifically said don’t let that idiotic pushy bitch come to this walk around.

  16. This was great entertainment, watching her. She was all but crying. And Heather was just the essence of calm and grace. Heather was being bullied and harassed, and she just sat there and took it and it infuriated Siobhan even more. It was hilarious.

  17. More than an awkward “moment.” More like an outrageous ten minutes of bullying. Siobhan has hit a new low (is that possible?).

  18. Linda McNamara used to tell the story when Chivaun cried at a directors meeting at LWV because people weren’t testing her nice. She broke her campaign promise plain and simple.

  19. When does the recall petition start?
When does the impeachment process start?

  20. You mean being elected to village council doesn’t make you emperor and empress? Disappointment!

  21. Hey thumbs down, you must be some real good at ass sucking . The village is in the toilet. Wow you are wiped.

  22. Disgusting. What a show of her true colors. Despicable human for publicly berating someone like that. In the corporate world, someone like her would be fired. Anyone else ready for a new town? Ugh.
