Bee Swarm Causes Havoc in Paramus, NJ: Three Tree Trimmers Stung

Paramus NJ, a routine tree-trimming job turned into a chaotic scene Thursday morning when three Multiple Borough of Paramus Shade Tree & Parks Commission employees were stung by a swarm of bees near the 200 block of  Howland Avenue and Village Circle. The incident was severe enough for police to advise residents to stay indoors for their safety.

What Happened?

The bee attack occurred around 10:55 a.m., according to Robert M. Guidetti, Chief of the Paramus Police Department. The swarm caught everyone by surprise, prompting immediate action from local authorities.

One (1) employee was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the affected employees were allergic to bee stings.

A portion of Howland Avenue near Forest Avenue was closed by police until the bees dispersed

Police Advisory

In response to the situation, the Paramus Police Department issued a public advisory:

“A large swarm of bees reported in the area of Howland Ave and Village Cr. Residents are urged to stay inside.”

Social Media Reactions

Resident Robert Lukach took to Facebook to comment on the incident with a touch of humor:

“So that’s what all the buzz was about. Please bee careful,” Lukach posted, adding, “This is unbee-lievable!”

Injuries and Medical Response

One worker suffered severe stings and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment. The other two employees sustained moderate stings and were treated on the scene, Chief Guidetti reported.

Road Closure and Safety Measures

Howland Avenue has been closed to traffic, and area residents have been strongly advised to remain indoors until the situation is under control. The Paramus Police Department has dispatched a professional bee catcher to handle the swarm and ensure public safety.
