HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A 25-year-old local athletic coach is facing serious felony charges after a sweeping digital investigation uncovered the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Mario H. Kaldas of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Kaldas, who works as a Bergen County pickleball coach, was taken into custody following a targeted raid by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit.

Cyber Crimes Unit Executes Search Warrant

The arrest stems from an intensive internet-based investigation tracked by regional cyber crime detectives. On Thursday, June 4, 2026, law enforcement officials executed a court-authorized search warrant at Kaldas’s residence in Hasbrouck Heights.

According to investigators, the digital forensic evidence revealed that Kaldas utilized the internet to view, download, possess, and distribute explicit material depicting prepubescent and pubescent children.

Severe Criminal Charges and Multi-Agency Task Force

Following the search of his home and the recovery of digital evidence, Kaldas was arrested and hit with multiple state financial and criminal offenses, including:

  • Second-Degree Distribution of Child Pornography (N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)(i))

  • Third-Degree Possession of Child Pornography (N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii))

Kaldas was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ, where he is currently being held pending his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.

Prosecutor Musella emphasized that these charges are strictly accusations and that the defendant remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The successful operation relied on a massive collaborative effort. Prosecutor Musella extended his thanks to the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department and the New York City Police Department (NYPD). He additionally recognized the key agencies comprising the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force, including the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Hackensack Police, Norwood Police, and Washington Township Police.
