Fair Lawn Man Arrested and Charged with Sexual Assault and Child Endangerment

PARAMUS, N.J. — A 36-year-old Fair Lawn resident has been taken into custody following an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile earlier this year, authorities announced.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella confirmed the arrest of Kristian S. Peralta-Montano of Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Fair Lawn Police Department, led by Chief Joseph Dawicki.

  • July 29, 2026: The Fair Lawn Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged past sexual assault involving a juvenile victim.

  • Investigation Findings: Detectives determined that Peralta-Montano allegedly sexually assaulted the juvenile in Fair Lawn during February 2026.

  • July 30, 2026: Authorities located and arrested Peralta-Montano in Paramus, New Jersey.


Overview of Legal Charges

Following his arrest, Peralta-Montano was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, N.J., where he remains held pending his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.

The official charges filed against him include:

  • Two counts of Second-Degree Sexual Assault (N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1) and N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(3)(a))

  • One count of Third-Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child (N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1))

  • Two counts of Fourth-Degree Criminal Sexual Contact (N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b)
