Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Howard M. Harper (DOB: 8/15/1980; single; unemployed) of Prospect Avenue, Hackensack, NJ on charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of Taser devices. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Captain Darrin DeWitt.
On January 25, 2022, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Hackensack Police Department executed a search warrant at 240 Prospect Avenue, Apartment # 325, Hackensack, NJ. A search of the residence revealed a large amount of cocaine, three taser devices, and drug paraphernalia.
HOWARD M. HARPER was apprehended outside of his residence and was placed under arrest without incident. He was charged with first-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, specifically cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(1); and second-degree possession of three conducted energy devices, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4-1b. HARPER was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team for its assistance in this investigation.
