Bergenfield NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced that JOSE D. PEREZ VASQUEZ (DOB: 03/28/1969; single; and employed as a landscaper) of 14 North Front Street, Apartment 1, Bergenfield, New Jersey has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Cathy Madalone.
On Monday, May 6, 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the Bergenfield Police Department that a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound to the torso had been found in the area of Portland Avenue. The victim, later identified as 43-year-old Uvaldo de Gabriel Aguilar of Bergenfield, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:05 AM.
As a result of the investigation, Jose D. Perez Vasquez was charged with one count of Murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1), a 1st degree crime, and one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d, a 2nd degree crime. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, however his whereabouts are unknown at this time. Acting Prosecutor Calo further states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
